Morning coffee at Old Woman Bay

Hiked South Old Woman River

South Old Woman River trail wound beautifully beside the river for most of the way. At one point it crossed the river. One had to mount huge boulders and traverse that way. The path was riddled with roots but certainly beautiful ferns, rocks and vegetation made every step worth it. The small but beautiful falls at the turning point of the look was a vista not to be missed on such a beautiful day.

Pinguisibi or Sand River falls

The Ojibwas summered on these shores. Glorious.

First Glimpse of Superior! Yahoo!

Super Stack of Sudbury. Notice the very fall looking sky.

Beer is rushed to a local resort enroute to Lake Superior

August 25th cont's

First hike was a suitable warmup a flat trail through a hardwood forest called Crescent Lake. Next incredible waterfalls and vistas were seen at Pinguisibi or Sand River.

Driving Day One

Stayed last night at the Skyline Motel in the Sault. It did not get any stars from me but saved 50 dollars a night compared to the Comfort Inn across the street. Breakfast was McD's. Coffee great. I ordered my egg mcmuffin dry with no cheese. Hope that helps the ridiculous number of calories in one of those. Superior rough and wild but oh so rugged and natural compared with the almost dare I say Red Necked commercialism of town. Today cool with fall in the air. Much going on in road works. Passed pancake bay. I am reminded of some of the group of 7 paintings at every turn. Lake Superior provincial park coming up soon.

a van runs into tanker

Sad to see a terrible accident right outside of blind river. Held up for a long time. One realizes there is never a reason to rush on a highway.
